LRI Access Program

The Latino Research Institute (LRI) Access Program pairs undergraduate students from across campus with research faculty and fellows. This mentorship opportunity connects students interested in Latino-related research and policy work with faculty who provide hands-on experience with active research projects, guidance on developing original research, training in research methods, including mixed-method and community-based approaches, and professional development through specialized workshops. This program is uniquely interdisciplinary and is open to all departments and colleges.

Intersectional Qualitative Research Methods Institute for Doctoral Students

IQRMI-DS brings together doctoral students from across the country with dedicated faculty to enhance intersectional qualitative research. Among the few training institutes in the U.S. focused on qualitative research methods, IQRMI-DS offers students comprehensive consultations on research projects and facilitates scholarly discussions exploring the intersections of race, gender, class, ethnicity, and other dimensions of inequity. Beyond these meaningful conversations, the institute supports intersectional scholars in their pursuit of successful research careers by providing practical resources and professional development opportunities throughout their time at UT Austin.

Undergraduate Research Engagement

The LRI student programs strengthen undergraduate students' research and writing skills while developing the professional skills needed to apply to graduate and doctoral programs and to pursue research opportunities. Through structured mentorship opportunities at the institute, students develop research capabilities and the social capital necessary to succeed academically and professionally. LRI also engages students through special events, including a research-ready fair where they can create resumes, take professional headshots, and explore research opportunities at UT Austin.
